Project Name:Food Insecurity Response for Urban Population of Kabul (FIRUP-K)
Project Description:
In response to the rising Food insecurity problem in Afghanistan and in order to mitigate against the very real negative impacts of this particularly in the urban capital of Kabul, CARE will be implementing a large Cash-for-Work project aimed at getting money into the hands of vulnerable Afghans in order that they are able to suvive through this difficult period at a time when access to food is challenged because of drought as well as rising food prices.

The activities of this project will contribute to urban infrastructure by focussing on improving local amenties and services and the project has been designed with the support and input of the local authorities including relevant ministries and in particular, the Kabul Municipality.

A total of 50,035 household will be assisted, resulting in a benefit to over 250,000 people. Special focus is given to women and women-headed households by focussing on activities suitable to the local context.
