Project Name:Emergency Program to Assist Flood Victims in Angola
Project Description:
On the 21st of January heavy rains (65 mm in 12 hours) in Luanda caused severe damage to infrastructure and houses
leaving 1,300 households in the peri-urban Municipalities of Kilamba Kiaxia and Viana (CARE has currently ongoing
activities on both these municipalities) homeless and many others with severe damage to their houses. In addition, in many areas water has not drained away yet and garbage has accumulated threatening public health. CARE Angola plans to
respond to the emergency focousing on 1300 households or approximately 7,800 people with the activites:
1. Procure clean drinking water;
2. Provide jerry cans and other household supplies; and,
3. Orzanize health education session etc with the funding support from USAID. At the end of the project 1,300 household will receive household supplies for and more importantly they get educated how how to prevent water borne diseases.
