The program aims to increase income and employment for families along the northern and southern border areas by supporting the expansion of private enterprises that will rapidly generate licit income and employment, and by strengthening local private producer groups and associations. The program aims to: accelerate the development of value chains in the target regions so that businesses and municipalities will be capable of capitalizing on domestic and export market demand; strengthen horizontal and vertical linkages to achieve higher levels of productivity; target mutually reinforcing interventions focusing on six key value chains; promote policy reform at both the municipal and national levels to develop a better enabling environment; address constraints to the value chain through improved access to finances; ensure active participation of Ecuadorian associations, community representatives, private sector, farmers, entrepreneurs, processors, and buying agents, among others.
The project will benefit 8,000 families of Esmeraldas, Carchi, Imbabura, Sucumbios, Orellana, Loja and El Oro provinces of Ecuador; will create 4,000 full-time jobs; will support 20 small and medium enterprises and will assist some municipalities in contributing to the improvement of the business climate in their cantons. |
