Project Information

Project Name:Water and Stability
Project Description:
Water and Stability is a three year Dutch funded project and a joint partnership between CARE Egypt supported by CARE Nederland and the Strategic Research Unit (SRU) of the National Water Research Centre. These will partner with different water management stakeholders in four governorates with different settings. The project seeks to promote equity, stability and inclusion in the water resource system at the local level. Its unique contribution is a focus on effective resolution of conflict at the local level and increasing compliance with national water policy by water users. The project will investigate the irrigation water distribution process in a variety of circumstances, actual user participation, as well as issues of conflict and non-compliance challenging effective implementation of NWRP. The project will also facilitate grassroots contributions to NWRP action plans and engage key stakeholders to identify promising practices and solutions. The project will develop relevant, evidence-based tools to promote mutual accountability between local partners (water users and local GoE) engaged in effective water resource management and will model institutional reform through mentoring and cross-agency collaboration.
