Project Name:Professional Media Development Project (PMDP)
Project Description:
The PMPD seeks to take advantage of the current process of cautious transition in the media sector for media capacity building at the national and local levels. USAID/Egypt developed the PMPD for assistance in implementing a five-year media strengthening program in Egypt to improve the professionalism, sustainability and diversity of the media sector. The program is being implemented and developed as part of the USAID/Egypt Democracy and Governance Program.

PMPD will be implemented by a consortium made up of MSI, IREX, D3 Systems and CARE-Egypt. MSI is the prime contractor for PMDP. It is a consulting firm located in Washington D.C focused on management. MSI is handling the overall project administration and management.

The project has four main goals namely
1 To build the training capacity in Egypt to promote professional development among mid-career media professionals, emerging journalists and media managers.
2 Improve the management and economic viability of Egyptian print and broadcast sectors.
3 Strengthen the professionalism and organizational capacity of local media.
