| Project Description: |
CARE's USDA HIV/AIDS project seeks to contribute to a reduction of HIV prevalence in targeted, high-risk
areas by promoting healthy sexual behaviors. Young men and women engaged in commercial sex activities in
mining centers as Obuasi, Tarkwa and the surrounding mines, the port of Takoradi and the commercial centre of
Kumasi are particularly targeted. Project interventions include community outreach through local NGOs, the
development and implementation of an integrated IEC campaign, including a serialized radio soap opera, and
support for the improvement of the health infrastructure for voluntary counseling and testing (VCT). |
