| Project Name: | Civil Society Capacity Support for Agriculture and Natural Resources (CISOCS) |
| Project Description: |
CISOCS improves the capacity of local NGOs engaged in community development, agriculture extension
and/or natural resource management to access and use development and facilitation methods that enable
community empowerment and civil society strengthening. Project interventions include: 1) building the capacity of
local agencies to facilitate community development through and with indigenous institutions; 2) designing and
researching approaches for facilitation of community based development planning and of traditional systems and
indigenous institutions to develop their role in sustainable and participatory development.; 3) developing a framework for indigenous institutions' organizational development and linkages to local governance; 4) developing mechanisms through which CSOs can coordinate with each other and with local decision makers, including systems for feeding community based development planning into district planning and civil society ability to demand improved equity and accountability of decision makers; and 5) designing/disseminating successful models and building capacity of NGOs to use them. |
