| After Hurricane Mitch, a vulnerability study of the city and surroundings of Tegucigalpa was done. The study was carried out by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA)and identified and mapped the vulnerability and risks of the different parts of the city. CODEM DC has expressed interest in cooperating in project and project proposals that are based on this study and will help them in implementing the recommendations mentioned there. CARE's proposal will focus its activities on institutional strengthening of CODEM DC and municipality departments that work closely with it and how CODEM DC can socialize and communicate its disaster prevention and mitigation strategy with the communitty of the 147 CODELs in the central district area of Tegucigalpa. | |
