Project Information

Project Name:Project to Improve Educational Quality (PROMEB)
Project Description:
PROMEB is a highly participatory project as it brings together parents, teachers, students, community leaders and local governments. These participating social sectors are important stakeholders in the carrying out and sustaining educational processes in which the project transforms traditional educational services into actions which are owned by and relevant to the beneficiaries, particularly girls and boys and youth.
The strengthening of local organizational structures is fundamental, including the proposal that girls and boys organize and become active via school councils. Their planning goals include the promotion of activities which strengthen the children’s capacities to practice values among themselves, including solidarity, study habits and rights as well as democratic practice and citizen participation which serve as preparation for becoming future citizens actively incorporated into community development. The parents organize as well in order to oversee and participate positively in ensuring that their children receive the benefits of a quality education and can successfully complete their primary education at the appropriate age.
Didactic toolkits and training on techniques and methods are made available to the facilitators who support the education of working youth and the teachers so that they can offer improved teaching and learning processes as well as strategies for educational management which permit the school to be linked to the community. A strong component of raising awareness on basic education for the eradication of the worst forms of child labor is carried out with all of the participants.
