| The Fort Dauphin Urban Program's goal is to promote healthier living by strengthening urban governance at multiple levels. The program's objectives are to: 1) ensure that a community-driven development approach is used in the 11 urban districts of the town to improve service delivery to poor households. To achieve this, CARE develops necessary tools and guidelines and provides training to facilitate community organization and the creation of local structures representative of these communities. 2)incorporate long-range strategic planning within municipal structures to improve water and sanitation services to the urban poor. CARE provides the municipality of Fort Dauphin with technical assistance and training. 3) collect and use information to monitor community health and improve urban environments. CARE provides technical assistance to key municipality staff in health surveillance and information use. | |
