| Project Name: | Village Savings & Loan and HIV/AIDS (VSLAIDS) |

| CARE's goal in this two-year project is to increase income and livelihood security of poor people and decrease the incidence of HIV/AIDS in Zambezia by providing appropriate, accessible and effective financial services. The VSL project is implemented in association with CARE's CRESCE project (see below). Specific project objectives include to make financial services widely available to the rural and urban poor in three districts of Zambezia Province, and to improve knowledge, attitudes and practices that contribute to lowering the HIV/AIDS prevalence rate. The project expects to reach and benefit up to 1,000 savings and loan groups with a total of about 6,000 members. |
