Project Information

Project Name:Improving Livelihoods Through Public Works Programs (ILTPWP)
Project Description:
The purpose of CARE's Improved Livelihood through Public Works Program is to implement district-managed
public works sub-projects in vulnerable areas in order to provide income and employment opportunities that
contribute to longer-term economic growth. The project also contributes to the goal of improving the livelihoods of
vulnerable and marginalized groups in society by enhancing their productivity and thereby increasing their self-reliance. CARE's approach to implementing and monitoring public works builds on its work in the Central Region
Infrastructure Maintenance Program (CRIMP). It is piloted in the central region, in Lilongwe, Salima, Dowa and
Ntchisi and lessons learned are shared under CRIMP on a national basis.
