Project Information

Project Name:Partnerships In Capacity Building In Education (PACE)
Project Description:
While education quality and access are both important to long-term development, quality affects access and
the willingness of the household to make financial and other sacrifices to send a child to school. CARE's role in the PACE project is to strengthen primary school management by developing sustainable, district-level mechanisms in
six districts for the development, training and ongoing support of school management committees. CARE's approach
focuses on: 1) building the institutional capacity and professional development base of civil society and local authority structures from the school to district levels; 2) strengthening the participatory planning processes at District Assembly level and generate local ownership; and 3) enhancing the research, monitoring, tracking and advocacy capacity of the Civil Society Coalition for Quality Basic Education and district education networks. The project also aims to draw lessons learned and identify opportunities and conditions for scaling up and replication, and to develop a primary school management strategy that has the full commitment of Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, donors,
NGOs and participating communities, especially women.
