The SHAKTI Project will strengthen the organizational and technical capacity of the 3 NGOs and one network for women empowerment and livelihood improvement. The project aim is to contribute to the improved livelihood of the poor, vulnerable and socially excluded women in Churia. The project focuses on empowerment of poor vulnerable and socially excluded women in 3 districts of Churia as well as building capacity of partner NGOs to promote sustainable socio-economic change for these women.
The project will be implemented through a national network called Himalayan Grassroots Women's Association for Natural Resource Management in Nepal (HIMWANTI) and three district level NGOs
Forum for Social Development (INDRENI), Nepal Rural Self-Reliance Campaign (NRUSEC) and Nari Ship Shrijana Kendra (NSSK).
The project will reach 7,500 poor vulnerable socially excluded women and their families and community based organizations, natural resource management groups, mothers groups, government line agencies and women’s networks at local and national.
The Project's major activities are:
- Awareness raising and empowerment of PVSE women to access natural management resources
- Identification and usage of income generating opportunities
- On-farm and off-farm training, vocational training
- Awareness raising on gender based violence and reproductive health
- Training on disaster risk reduction, development of emergency plans and small scale mitigation measures
- Capacity building of local partner NGOs and local resource. |
