Project Information

Project Name:Basic Health Assistance for War Displaced/Promotion of Mosquito Bed Nets Project
Project Description:
Basic Health Assistance for War Displaced/Promotion of Mosquito Bed Nets Project aims to reduce the incidence of malaria-related death and illness among 2,500 internally displaced persons living in Mayo Village outside Sudan's capital Khartoum. Both methods now being employed for fighting malaria are inadequate, and include the occasional spraying of standing water with pesticide and some medical treatment at local clinics. The project will carry out a study to ascertain people's acceptability of mosquito bed nets, design and launch a public education and information campaign to promote the use of bed nets, and assist local cottage industries to set up to produce the bed nets.
