Project Description:
CARE is the lead agency with CRS, World Vision and Africare are the sub-grantees to implement this project to improve access to water and sanitation facilities and sustained livelihood s of returnees and local communities in Bombali and Koinadugu districts. CARE in collaboration with its partners expect to achieve the following results: 1) 120 targeted communities have access to clean potable water and sanitation facilities and are practicing improved health/hygiene behaviours (an additional 200-300 communities will benefit from catchment oriented health education programs); 2) 125,000 sexually-active persons have improved knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention opportunities; 3) 13,800 rural food insecure households have improved supply and access to food by the
end of year 3 (this number assumes 4,600 direct beneficiaries and another 9,200 households within the targeted communities' catchment area); 4) Using rights-oriented development approaches to support peace, rights, justice, and good governance, 120 targeted local community-based institutions will have adapted more representative
decision-making processes as well as established improved mechanisms to interact with government support service
institutions (an additional 200-300 communities will benefit from catchment oriented rights awareness activities).
