Project Name:Community Action against Gender Based Violence (GBV)
Project Description:
The project intends to influence the knowledge, attitudes and ultimately behavior of approximately 2,000 duty bearers in 5 IDP camps in northern Uganda. CARE will facilitate training and support increased awareness to promote changes in knowledge and skills that strengthen community competencies in addressing SGBV and efficiency and effectiveness in service provision to SBGV survivors. In addition, the project will support local NGOs like HIDO (Health Integrated Development Organization), Human Rights Focus (HURFO) and others in building community competency as well as knowledge among health workers about effective services that address SGBV problems. At the national level, CARE will link with the Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development, Office of the Prime Minister and the national GBV task force, comprised of UNHCR, UNIDEF AND key NGOs to support review of policy frameworks and structural issures that contribute to SGBV.
