This Project's overall objective is to contribute to poverty eradication and promote gender equality and women’s empowerment. The project will achieve this by strengthening the capacity of civil society organizations (CSOs) to advocate for and support the participation of Palestinian women in the development processes.
The specific objective of the project is to build the capacity of grassroots community based organizations (CBOs) in the Gaza Strip to advocate for the interests of women in development strategies and strengthen the role of women in the social, political and economic spheres of their communities. The project contributes to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals in the OPT by linking into efforts to eradicate poverty, promote gender equality and empower women. The project will be implemented in all five governorates of the Gaza Strip and the proposed activities are a combination of organizational capacity building, developing skills in community development planning, enhancing the advocacy skills of participating organizations and facilitating coalition building, and promoting gender equality in community development processes through an awareness raising campaign targeting youth. The action contributes to the needs of the target groups and final beneficiaries by promoting gender equality as an important part of development strategies and processes that seek to enable all people, women and men alike, to escape poverty and improve their standard of living in the Gaza Strip. |
