Text to Win OFFICIAL RULES

Void outside the 50 United States and where prohibited. You must be a legal resident of, and located within, one of the 50 United States, age 12 and older at the time of registration. Entrants under 21 years of age must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian before entering. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. See additional eligibility requirements below. Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere, Inc. ("CARE") is sponsoring HALF THE SKY Live -- Text to Win (the "Challenge").

ENTRY. There are two options for Entry to join CARE in the movement to empower women and girls and for a chance to win exciting prizes:

Text the word SKY to 30644. Normal texting fees apply. Texting the word SKY more than once to 30644 does not increase chance of winning.

The Challenge runs from December 24, 2009 to and including March 5, 2010 (the "Challenge Period"), during which all entries must be received. CARE assumes no liability for lost, late, misdirected, damaged, incomplete, incorrect, altered, illegible, or postage-due entries nor does it assume responsibility for entries (or donations) it is unable to process for any reason, including hardware, software or other technical failures. Entries, including information contained any entry, and funds will not be returned. All entries and all funds become the property of CARE. You do not need to be present at the HALF THE SKY Live event to win.

WINNER SELECTION AND PRIZING: On or about March 5, 2010 CARE will announce winning entrants and distribute prizes by pulling winners at random in the following prize order:

Ten (10) copies of the book Half the Sky: Turning Oppression Into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, autographed by its authors Nicolas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn. Approximate retail value ("ARV") is twenty-seven dollars and ninety-five cents ($27.95) each.

Ten (10) HALF THE SKY Live movie posters signed by panelists and/or performers in the HALF THE SKY Live event. Approximate retail value ("ARV") up to $500 each.

Five (5) baskets of CARE microfinance goods. Approximate retail value ("ARV") is fifty dollars ($50.00) each.

Three (3) subscriptions each to Better Homes & Gardens, Ladies' Home Journal, More, Family Circle, Fitness, and Parents magazines (Meredith magazine publications). Approximate retail value ("ARV") is fifteen dollars ($15.00) each.

Two (2) packages of two (2) economy class round-trip tickets to anywhere Delta Air Lines flies in the 50 United States. Approximate retail value ("ARV") is $600 each package. Travel must take place on Delta Air Lines or Northwest Airlines owned and operated planes, and not on other Star Alliance Partner airlines. If the Travelers do not live in a city where Delta Air Lines and/or Northwest Airlines operates, Travelers must at their own expense either get to an airport CARE designates as serviced by Delta Air Lines or Northwest Airlines, or the winner forfeits his/her claim to the prize. Air tickets are round-trip, economy class only. No other fees or costs associated with Travel are included. Air Travel must be booked between March 15, 2010 and December 31, 2010 and scheduled and arranged by a CARE representative. If Travel arrangements are not made prior to December 31, 2010 winners forfeit their claim to the prize.

Grand Prize: One (1) trip to Los Angeles for two (2) persons selected by the winner (Travelers) to see CARE Ambassador Michael Franti in concert with John Mayer on March 25, 2010 . The winner may select him or herself as one of the two Travelers. Prize for the two Travelers consists of:

Two (2) day/ two (2) night stay in a Los Angeles hotel selected by CARE, with one standard room for each Traveler;

A per diem for meals and incidentals of Seventy One Dollars ($71) per day, per person;

Two (2) tickets to see Michael Franti and John Mayer in concert;

Two back-stage passes to see Mr. Franti, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on Thursday, March 25, 2010; and

Two (2) round trip coach-class tickets [one for each Traveler] from a major commercial airport within the 50 United States nearest to Traveler's residence.

[Approximate retail value ("ARV") per person of entire trip Grand Prize is Eleven hundred twenty-two dollars ($1122.00)].

"Travel" and "Travelers" in these rules refer to the prize Travel and Travelers as described above.

Prizes may constitute taxable income to winners or Travelers. Consult your tax advisor. Allow 6-8 weeks for shipping (if applicable). No entrant shall receive more than one prize.

Winners' names shall be posted on the Challenge Web site and notified by email or phone numbers provided in the entry. If winner has not been reached within five (5) calendar days of winning selection or if winner notification is returned as undeliverable, an alternate winner may be selected.

Odds of winning depend on the total number of qualifying entries received. CARE reserves the right to delay, cancel, terminate or otherwise revise the Challenge or any prize, for any reason in its sole discretion, including, but not limited to, a change in the Michael Franti/John Mayer concert, a major humanitarian emergency that CARE deems require it to reassign Challenge or prize staff or resources, acts or events outside CARE's reasonable control (force majeure) or if the Challenge or prize administration, security, integrity or proper play is compromised or it is otherwise not capable of completion as planned, such as resulting from infection by computer virus, bug, worm, technical corruption, or unauthorized human intervention. CARE reserves the right to substitute a prize or form of acknowledgement of equal or greater value in the event a prize is cancelled, delayed or otherwise revised as described above. CARE will determine all elements of each prize in its sole discretion. No prize may be assigned, transferred, changed or redeemed for cash, except at CARE's sole discretion any portion of the prize not used will be forfeited. The prizes are awarded "as is" with no warranty or guarantee express or implied. CARE disclaims all and any liability for the actual provision, quality or nature of any third party product or service accepted by the winning entrants or any injuries, illness, travel delays, losses, or damages of any kind resulting from any third party product or service accepted by the entrants.

PARTICIPATION IN THE CHALLENGE. CARE reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any person who it deems to have tampered with the entry process or the operation of the Challenge, the Challenge Site or otherwise to have violated these Official Rules. The use of automated entry devices or any other conduct that impedes the integrity of the Challenge is prohibited.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS. Travelers will be responsible for all costs not set forth above, including without limitation travel insurance, and baggage insurance. As noted above, prizes, including Travel, may be taxable income to winners and/or Travelers receiving the benefit. Travel is subject to availability, blackout dates, and restrictions. The Travel is valid on the dates selected by CARE or will be forfeited in its entirety. The winner must notify CARE of the name, address, daytime phone number, and email address of the Travelers within five (5) days of initial contact from a CARE employee. If a person under 21 years of age is selected by the winner to participate in the Travel as a guest, the other Traveler must be that person's parent or legal guardian. Winners and Travelers will be required to provide their social security number and to sign an affidavit of eligibility, and release to be returned to CARE within five (5) days of notification or an alternate winner may be selected. If winner notification is returned as undeliverable, an alternate winner may be selected. CARE reserves the right to use winner's and Travelers' names and likenesses for advertising or editorial use without additional compensation.

PRIVACY; PERMISSIONS. By entering and providing the required entry information, you acknowledge that CARE may send you information about CARE and its work or contact you for future donations, by fax, telephone, mail, email or other means, unless you shall otherwise request in writing Information collected from entrants is subject to CARE' privacy policies located at www.care.org. IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO SHARE YOUR INFORMATION, PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THIS CHALLENGE. Except where prohibited by law: (i) entry or participation in Travel constitutes permission to use the individual's name, hometown, voice, likeness, photograph, and any statements regarding the Challenge for CARE editorial, public relations, and promotional purposes without compensation, including, but not limited to, use on CARE web sites and the Challenge Web Site; (ii) entry or Travel constitutes a representation that the entrant or Traveler is either over 12 years of age or has received parental or legal guardian permission to enter the Challenge; (iii) entry or Travel constitutes permission for CARE to contact entrant for any purpose relating to the administration of the Challenge, entries or donations; and (iv) entrants and Travelers release CARE, CARE International members or affiliates, and their agents and employees from any liability relating to participation in the Half the Sky LIVE event, Travel or related CARE events and/or the Challenge, including without limitation any liability for injuries, losses, damage and other costs incurred by the entrant or Traveler, acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize.

DISPUTE RESOLUTION. Except where prohibited, by entering the Challenge, entrants agree that: All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the liabilities, rights and obligations of entrants, Travelers or CARE and their respective agents shall be governed by and construed exclusively in accordance with the laws of the State of Georgia without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law of any jurisdiction. Entrant and Travelers agree that any action at law or in equity arising out of or relating to this Challenge, or awarding of the prizes, shall be filed only in the state or federal courts located in the State of Georgia and entrant or Traveler hereby consents and submits to the personal jurisdiction of such courts for the purposes of litigating any such action. Except where prohibited, by participating in this Challenge, entrant and Traveler agrees that: (a) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Challenge, Travel, or awarding of the prizes, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; and (b) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with participating in this Challenge or Travel but in no event attorneys' fees; and (c) under no circumstances will any entrant or Traveler be permitted to obtain awards for and hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitations or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages, so the above may not apply to you.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS. Challenge entrants and Travelers agree to be bound by these Official Rules, and acknowledge that CARE is not liable for losses or damages of any kind arising from participation in HALF THE SKY Live event or related CARE events or this Challenge, including any losses, damages, or taxes that may arise from prizes awarded hereunder. Decisions of CARE are final and binding in all respects.
