CARE’s President and CEO Michelle Nunn joined On Point with Meghna Chakrabarti to speak about this year’s El Niño and its potential to push food insecurity even higher. They discussed how climate shocks are compounding crises already underway and how these compounding factors will strain food systems stretched thin by rising costs and supply chain shocks.
Nunn also spoke about how CARE teams are helping communities prepare before conditions worsen, through measures like water catchment systems, solar-powered wells, and drip irrigation, and how CARE places a special focus on women and girls, who so often carry the heaviest burden in a crisis.
