Connecting Leaders With the Issues

CARE is in a unique position to help improve the lives of families all around the world.

One critical component of our work is engaging U.S. policymakers and other influential decision-makers in development programs on the ground. We believe when leaders meet the women and families behind the statistics, they will be inspired and motivated to lead change.

With the support of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, CARE leads a comprehensive, multi-day Learning Tour to raise awareness about the positive reach and scope of U.S. development assistance, particularly as it relates to family health outcomes for women and girls.

Observation and open dialogue is a critical component of the CARE Learning Tours. Each trip takes the delegation off the beaten path to talk with community members, visit local clinics and hospitals, meet with partner organization and engage with high-level government officials. By participating in activities and meeting with leaders at the community, district and national levels, Learning Tour participants gain a unique perspective about the challenges and cost-effective solutions that are mobilizing communities to fight poverty.

Following the trip, CARE works with participants to support strategic follow-up activities and maximize the delegation's impact on these important issues.

To learn more about these exciting trips, check out our trip reports, videos and photos below or contact our team for more information.
