Gaza long-awaited ceasefire should enable aid agencies to deliver at scale
CARE welcomes the first phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza announced by President Trump between Israel and Hamas, and the promise it carries to immediately end the bloodshed and human suffering, including the release of all hostages, so they can finally be reunited with their families and loved ones.

It is incredibly painful to recognize that it has been two years since Hamas militants killed more than 1200 people. Dozens of Israeli hostages have died, and 20 living souls are still held in captivity. Over the same two years, over 67,000 Palestinians have been killed, nearly two thirds of them women and children.

Gaza needs a ceasefire and meaningful aid access to end starvation
The Israeli announcement of a one-week humanitarian pause in certain parts of Gaza that will reportedly see the designation of secure routes for UN convoys and the lifting of customs on food, medicine, and aid for a limited time period at one crossing point, is not a solution to the mass starvation and manmade humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
