August 20, 2025 – Pakistan is facing one of its most severe monsoon seasons in recent years. Since June, devastating floods have caused more than 650 deaths, injured nearly 1,000 people, and displaced tens of thousands into overcrowded camps and host communities. Over 2,400 homes have been destroyed, while relentless rains have washed away bridges, roads, and farmland. Heavy monsoon rains continue to threaten more floods and landslides.

“CARE Pakistan’s teams recently visited Buner district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northern Pakistan, where the devastation is overwhelming. Families told us how within minutes, torrents of flood waters mixed with massive boulders rushed down the mountains, sweeping everything away.Women shared their fear as walls collapsed, and home filled with mud. Now, many are struggling to keep their children safe in shelters that offer little privacy, clean water, or hygiene.”

“CARE Pakistan, together with our local partners, is prioritizing the most vulnerable in the hardest-hit areas, including the elderly, people with disabilities, and women and children. Urgent needs include food, clean water, hygiene kits and emergency shelter. Our teams are currently assessing the full extent of damage and needs while preparing to distribute relief. The crisis is still unfolding, and substantial resources are urgently needed to sustain immediate relief efforts and long-term recovery. We stand with the people of Pakistan who have lost loved ones, homes, and livelihoods during these difficult times.”
