The AbbVie Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to drive transformative change in communities worldwide so that everyone can live their healthiest life. In 2025, the AbbVie Foundation and CARE, alongside Morehouse School of Medicine, Lyft, and the Atlanta Community Food Bank, created an innovative program providing complete, connected support and services to pregnant people in underserved Atlanta area communities – with the aim of addressing critical disparities and improving maternal health.
The two-year pilot offers holistic support that goes beyond traditional health care, including pre- and post-natal education, the delivery of iron-rich foods, transportation to and from appointments, and cash assistance. Addressing barriers in a coordinated way helps to alleviate the fragmentation of care, which is vital to improving health outcomes.
Through this cross-sector collaboration, the AbbVie Foundation and CARE are creating an ecosystem of support that will directly impact the health and wellbeing of 150 pregnant people and their families, and indirectly, as many as 3,600 people across Atlanta communities.
Insights uncovered from the pilot will enable CARE to effectively expand this innovative approach to address other health needs in communities across the U.S. and beyond. Learn more about the AbbVie Foundation and CARE’s partnership here.
