Ranil DeSilva headshot

Ranil is a Certified Practicing Accountant and a Senior Finance Executive with over 22 years’ experience in the Commercial, Professional Services, and NGO sectors, working across Australia, Africa, and Europe.

Before beginning at CARE in 2021, Ranil worked for Save the Children International since 2014, most recently as the Interim Chief Financial Officer for Save the Children Norway. During this period at Save, he was accountable for a multi-billion $USD operational and reporting portfolio within a complex, globally federated entity comprising +30 member organizations and +60 country operations.

Ranil spent most of his early career in Senior Finance roles in Chartered Accounting Practices and Investment Banking in Melbourne, Australia. Ranil also spent 3 years in Africa in a field-based role as the Regional Finance and Support Services Director for East and Southern Africa, where he was accountable for +14 different countries for Save the Children International based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Ranil is very passionate about eliminating poverty, advocating for human rights, humanitarian work and generally improving the NGO sector to be agile and add value to communities through strong governance and leadership. He also holds a number of ongoing Non-Executive Director and Board Trustee roles in the UK and Australia. On a personal level, Ranil enjoys playing golf, riding, hiking, and traveling the world, where he has experienced over 75 countries and cultures.
