Dr. Deepmala Mahla, CARE International’s Global Humanitarian Director, was interviewed by the BBC World News on the impact of foreign assistance funding cuts in Bangladesh. Dr. Mahla discusses what she saw while visiting Cox Bazar’s, the world’s largest refugee camp located in Bangladesh. Her meetings with women and children as well as CARE’s partners on the ground informs her perspective and her appeal to the international community. Only 35% of the funding needs are currently being covered. This means that 2/3 of the people living in Cox’s Bazar do not have their basic needs met.
