MrBeast and Beast Philanthropy join CARE to help families recover from Nepal's floods

On August 26, a massive flash flood and landslides tore through Nepal, destroying entire communities and impacting 1.6 million people. 5,130 people are still out of contact as of September 14, 2026. Popular content creator MrBeast and Beast Philanthropy are partnering with CARE to raise funds for CARE PACKAGE® for Emergencies kits and other urgently needed supplies.

When the flood came through Ward 8 in Belkotgadhi in Nuwakot on August 26, Sita watched years of hard work disappear.  

In a matter of hours, her farmland was inundated. The maize and rice crops her family depended on were swept away.  

For now, her family is staying with acquaintances on higher ground with no clear sense of when life will begin to feel normal again.  

The CARE PACKAGE for Emergencies, CARE’s portable package, addresses the things Sita’s family needs now. Designed to support the needs of a family of four for a month, it is five kits in one: 

  1. A shelter kit with fireproof tarps and ropes for setting up a temporary shelter 
  2. A wash kit with hygiene supplies and containers for portable bathing 
  3. A kitchen kit with pots and a portable stove 
  4. A dignity kit with sanitary pads and undergarments 
  5. An energy kit with a solar charger and emergency light 

Each of the up to 40 items is chosen for what families need in the weeks after a disaster, not just the first hours.  

“It’s holistic, comprehensive,” Sita says of the CARE PACKAGE for Emergencies. 

Namrata, a local government public employee who lives in Ward 7 in Belkotgadhi, has spent years helping residents access services and support. When the floods damaged her house, she came to a holding center, not knowing when it would be safe for her to return home again. 

She points to some of the everyday items included in the CARE PACKAGE for Emergencies: toothpaste, matchsticks, and a lighter.  

“Many don’t even think to include [these items],” she says.  

For the 2,532 people who are sheltering across 33 holding centers like the one where Namrata is staying, having a CARE PACKAGE for Emergencies kit doesn’t just address survival needs. It includes items that provide dignity and a sense of normalcy. 

MrBeast and Beast Philanthropy step in

CARE is partnering with content creator MrBeast, also known as Jimmy Donaldson, and his charity, Beast Philanthropy, to help fund the response to Nepal’s floods. More than 1.6 million people have been affected, with entire communities still cut off by damaged roads and bridges. For a disaster at this scale, giving MrBeast’s millions of followers the chance to help isn’t optional. It’s a must. 

Donaldson recorded a short, direct-to-camera video for his platforms, and Beast Philanthropy is sharing a fuller account of the partnership with its own audience. Together, MrBeast and Beast Philanthropy is helping CARE reach more than 10,000 people with food, water, and shelter — including up to 1,500 CARE PACKAGE for Emergencies kits and temporary homes for 100 families

For CARE Nepal, this level of support right now allows staff and local partners to distribute more CARE PACKAGE for Emergencies kits to families who need support most urgently.  

“A solar light can mean a woman can safely walk to the washroom at night, while dignity items can meet needs that people may not feel able to ask for,” said Mona Sherpa, country director of CARE Nepal. “A tarpaulin can give a family a temporary space of their own while they consider what comes next.” 

It could be weeks or even months until some families are able to return to their homes, and thousands more do not have a home to return to. Along with CARE PACKAGE for Emergencies kits, transitional shelters are critical in this period because they give families a safe and dignified place to stay while they begin to rebuild their lives and consider longer-term solutions. This support means that CARE will be there now, during the response, and through the recovery.   

With MrBeast and his audience, CARE can continue to support people like Sita and Namrata as they rebuild their lives with dignity.
