About CARE in Poland

When Americans had the opportunity to send the famous CARE packages to war-torn Europe right after World War II, one of the countries they reached with humanitarian aid was Poland. In the second half of the last century, CARE was active in Poland during times of social unrest and natural disasters. Its programs included donating ambulances, distributing parcels to people in marginalized rural areas, and helping flood survivors.

When the war in Ukraine escalated last year, CARE returned to Poland to help Ukrainian refugees. Working with local partners, CARE International in Poland has reached 400,000 Ukrainian refugees in the region. The Polish office is also active in Slovakia and Hungary and runs operations in Ukraine.
