Democratic Republic of Congo: Escalating conflict leaves already traumatized survivors in dire need
In the North Kivu province of the Democratic Republic of Congo, villages have been left empty, farms are overgrown, and shopping centers are desolate as conflict rages on. Since March 2022, more than 600,000 people have fled their homes and sought refuge in collective centers such as makeshift camps, school yards, and church grounds in Nyiragongo, Kanyabayonga, Sake, and Goma.

Maria works as a project manager in Lviv, 40 miles from the Polish border. But she also risks her life to deliver daily necessities to Ukrainians more heavily hit by fighting. Together with 14 other drivers, the students deliver food, clean drinking water, medicine, hygiene products, and other daily necessities to people in need.

Ukraine: What would you bring if you had to flee in a hurry?
More than 13 million people have left their homes since the escalation of the war on February 24. Half of these are seeking refuge in Western Ukraine. Most have left everything behind and were only able to take a few essential items with them. Some thought they would be able to return home soon. Here are a few people sharing what they were able to bring with them while fleeing from their homes.
