Relief Efforts in Tailand
CARE International is a global confederation of 14 member organizations – Austria, Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany-Luxemburg, India, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Thailand, United Kingdom and United States – working together to end poverty.
CARE’s work in Thailand began in 1979, initially responding to the Cambodian refugee influx along Thailand’s borders. The Raks Thai Foundation (the local name of CARE in Thailand) became a member of CARE International on January 2003, becoming the first CARE member from a developing country.
Today, CARE works to promote food and nutrition security and resilience in the face of climate change, access to economic resources, especially for women, the pursuit of lives free form violence, emergency preparedness and disaster recovery.
