CARE, Atlanta, October 10, 2023 – What continues to unfold in Israel and Palestine is devastating for millions of families. I share in their grief and shock at what is happening, and their fear for what comes next. Hostage taking, murdering civilians, and reports of violence against women and girls are wanton violations of international humanitarian law. I was deeply inspired by our West Bank/Gaza Country Director and her invocation today to CARE staff for peace, justice, dignity, and her reminder that hope is the last thing to be lost: “We have never witnessed such a devastating impact on families and communities on both sides … Keep us in your prayers. Pray for the peace in the world and for all the human souls.”
