Atlanta, Georgia, February 12, 2026 — The Frontline Health Workers Coalition, a global alliance dedicated to strengthening and supporting the health workforce around the world, has a new home. Effective January 1, 2026, CARE, a global leader in the fight to end poverty, has assumed the role of host organization for the Coalition.
The Frontline Health Workers Coalition is a global network of organizations and advocates working to ensure that health workers are trained, supported, and recognized for their essential role in delivering lifesaving services and connecting communities to health systems. Health workers are the backbone of global health—critical to preventing disease, promoting wellness, and advancing equity worldwide.
Established in January of 2012, the Coalition brings together a diverse, international network of leaders, companies, and organizations to drive policy change, elevate the needs of health workers, and advance sustainable investment across all cadres of the global health workforce. Through collaborative advocacy, strategic partnerships, and a focus on measurable impact, the Coalition works to strengthen health systems and improve outcomes for communities everywhere.
In the last two years, the Coalition has redoubled its efforts to support strengthening the health workforce to address the growing burden on noncommunicable diseases and global health security. The Coalition also works with partners so that health workers can better leverage opportunities in digital health and AI, as well as take on leadership roles. Furthermore, the Coalition is a strong advocate for better protecting the physical and mental health of health workers.
CARE, a leading humanitarian and development organization with a focus on women and girls working in more than 120 countries worldwide, has a long history of working to improve access to healthcare in local communities and has become a global leader in supporting and advocating for health systems and the frontline health workforce to build healthier futures for all. As host of the Frontline Health Workers Coalition, CARE will leverage its global networks and expertise in advocacy, fundraising, communications, and operations to support, strengthen and advance the its work and impact.
“The move to CARE aligns with the Coalition’s strategy to become an even more globally focused alliance, enabling us to expand our collective impact,” said Tina Flores, Executive Director of the Frontline Health Workers Coalition. “Joining the CARE family—an organization with strong advocacy capabilities and deep global networks—is a strategic decision that supports the Coalition’s long-term sustainability and growth.”
The Coalition was hosted for the past decade by IntraHealth International, now a subsidiary of Global Communities. A leader in human resources for health, IntraHealth played a central role in facilitating the Coalition’s growth and impact. During its tenure, the Coalition evolved from a small group of committed organizations into a global alliance influencing policies on human resources for health. Global Communities will continue to play an integral role in the Coalition and its leadership.
“The Frontline Health Worker Coalition is a vital community where the expertise of many comes together for action that prioritizes the leadership, well-being and development of health workers globally,” said Kelly Cox, Coalition Steering Committee member and Head of Global Enterprise Alliances at Johnson & Johnson. “We look forward to continuing to collaborate with CARE and Coalition members on advancing solutions that strengthen health systems and improve quality care for patients.”
“Women comprise nearly 70% of health workers who deliver vital services to underserved and vulnerable populations,” said Michelle Nunn, President and CEO of CARE. “They are often the first—and sometimes only—line of defense against disease and play an essential role in ensuring the health of communities. As an organization that centers women and girls, and has engaged health workers for decades, we are dedicated to ensuring they are trained, protected and paid. We know that if health workers are taken care of, their communities are too. CARE is honored to host this impactful Coalition and advance its mission.”
“CARE is the right place to shepherd the next chapter of the Coalition, ensuring our membership continues to grow, our advocacy delivers impact and the alliance works towards sustainability,” said Sarah Lindsay, Steering Committee Member and Deputy Director, Advocacy at Living Goods.
