This article sheds light on the story behind the original CARE PACKAGE boxes first delivered in post-war Europe to those who had just survived one of the most devastating conflicts in modern human history.
A group of 22 American organizations created “Cooperative for American Remittances to Europe,” or CARE, with the specific objective of sending food packages to refugees and internally displaced people across Europe.

The first batch of these lifesaving boxes arrived on May 11, 1946 in the French port city of Le Havre. These boxes quickly became powerful symbols of American compassion.
