Afghanistan earthquake 2025: What CARE is doing
A devastating 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan on August 31, 2025, killing at least 1,411 people and destroying over 5,400 homes. CARE is responding with emergency assistance including food, shelter, medical supplies, and protection programs for women and girls in the affected provinces of Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman, and Nuristan.
