In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm that made landfall in Jamaica on October 28, CARE’s Country Director in Haiti Martin Dickler, spoke to ABC News about the hurricane’s impact on the island, a nation that is already experiencing multiple crises resulting in acute hunger, displacement, and insecurity.
During the interview, Dicker spoke about CARE’s teams — based in Port-au-Prince, Grand’Anse, Artibonite, North, and Northwest Departments — and how they are assessing the damage and coordinating with local authorities and partners to determine the most urgent needs and immediate response.
