Essence Magazine featured CARE’s partnership with Isan Elba and Beauty Forward, an organization founded by Elba to redistribute unused beauty products to uplift women navigating homelessness and systemic inequality.
On May 12, 2026, Elba and CARE, came together in Atlanta to host a CARE PACKAGE® Salon, an event that highlighted maternal health needs in the US and gave guests an opportunity to assemble CARE PACKAGE kits for women participating in CARE’s maternal health initiatives in Georgia.
The CARE PACKAGE Salon was held the day after the 80th anniversary of the delivery of the first ever CARE PACKAGE boxes.
Below is a quote from Gabby Dirden, CARE’s Director of Implementation for US Programs:
“Maternal mortality in the United States remains unacceptably high, especially for Black and Indigenous women who continue to face systemic barriers to quality care. We are deeply grateful to Isan Elba and Beauty Forward for their partnership and commitment to advancing equitable maternal health outcomes for women and families across the country.”
