Devex: Aid workers push for fast funds, local government action in Somalia drought

Now is the time to respond to the Somalia drought to avert famine and save more lives, aid workers told Devex. Raheel Chaudhary, CARE Somalia's country director explained that saving lives would require mobilizing funds quickly - something that didn't happen during the country's last famine in 2011. "The biggest problem back then was the late response," he said. "It wasn't until hundreds of thousands of lives were lost that the funds started coming, so in a sense, we can say that we are in a better position compared to last time." Read more here.
