Without food, there is no future.
Today, less food is available.
Available food is less accessible.
Accessible food is not affordable.
And in many places, access to food is about gender, the consequences falling on women who often eat last and least in times of crisis.
Causes of food shortages
Conflict, climate change, and COVID-19 have compounded an existing emergency, jeopardizing the future for millions of families and children. There has been a sharp decline in agricultural production in Europe. International trade has been disrupted and sanctions, stopping the flow of vital food and resources around the world. Without food and fertilizer, shops are empty, prices are soaring, harvests are threatened, and food insecurity is increasing.
