CARE to Honor Chef José Andrés, Michèle Flournoy, U.S. Reps. Lowey and Granger as Humanitarian Leaders

WASHINGTON—CARE, the global humanitarian and development organization focused on women and girls, is pleased to announce the following honorees for its Global Leaders Network (GLN) Awards:

Chef José Andrés, award-winning chef, humanitarian, and founder of World Central Kitchen
Michèle Flournoy, former U.S. Undersecretary of Defense for Policy
Rep. Nita Lowey (D-NY), Chair, U.S. House Appropriations Committee
Rep. Kay Granger (R-TX), Ranking Member, U.S. House Appropriations Committee

“Each of these leaders has made a substantial humanitarian impact on countless lives,” says CARE President and CEO Michelle Nunn.

“José Andrés is not just a culinary innovator, but a pioneer helping to fight global hunger and poverty in challenging parts of the world. Michèle Flournoy’s distinguished career has been marked by a commitment to humanitarian and development efforts as an integral part of U.S. national security strategy and global stability. And Reps. Lowey and Granger have a long track record of support for American foreign assistance programs. They know that foreign aid saves lives, keeps our citizens safe, and strengthens our economy.”

On June 11, CARE will present Chef José Andrés and Michele Flournoy with their awards at a GLN reception at the U.S. Institute of Peace in Washington, DC. Members of the media are welcome.
