Project Name:Project Gezaho: Prevention of Sexual Violence and Promotion of Community Support to Victims
Project Description:
Project Gezaho aims to reduce the incidence of sexual violence through community-based prevention efforts and the provision of medical and psycho-social services to over 176,000 potential and actual victims of sexual violence in areas of high refugee return in Northeastern Burundi. The program works in partnership with specialized local non-governmental organizations as well as public health centres.

Project activities include community-based prevention and awareness-raising efforts using innovative techniques such as interactive theatre, the provision of medical and psycho-social services to victims, the development of community leader networks to facilitate the care of and social reintegration of victims, and capacity-building for local health and other authorities to ensure an improved response to sexual violence.
