The True Cost of Delivering COVID Vaccines: South Sudan

August 2, 2021

By July 18, South Sudan was able to administer the 60,000 doses of COVID- 19 vaccine they had in stock through a series of smart investments in delivery, training, and social mobilization coordinated with several different partners. As new doses are projected to arrive in country in August, South Sudan continues to reinforce gaps in the health systems to make COVID-19 vaccinations possible without disrupting existing health services.

Examining Women and Girls’ Safe Spaces in Humanitarian Contexts: Research Findings from Northwest Syria and South Sudan (Research Report)

Women and girls’ safe spaces (WGSS) form one of the most widely implemented GBV prevention and response programming interventions in humanitarian contexts. Despite their widespread use and potential to increase the well-being, safety, and empowerment of women and girls, there is a lack of rigorous evidence regarding the role of these spaces in participants’ lives. CARE conducted a study to examine the effectiveness of its WGSS in Northwest Syria and South Sudan. This report provides detailed analysis of findings from this research.

Standing strong in the face of the pandemic: Case Study, Uganda, June 2021

Since COVID-19, CARE has undertaken concerted efforts to listen to women and girls and learn the impacts of the pandemic on women's lives, their greatest needs, and how they are responding. A segment of women and girls CARE engaged in these conversations have been members of VSLAs. This case study features the story of 33-year-old VSLA member Kansiime Bonny from South West Uganda. Kansiime was interviewed in April 2021 as part of CARE's Women Respond initiative.
