The New York Times: U.N. Seeks $4 Billion to Save Millions from Famine in Yemen

The New York Times quoted CARE’s joint statement about $2.6 billion in aid pledged to Yemen during a pledging conference this week. While the funding will help alleviate some suffering, concerted political action is needed, the statement said. “Financial support is not enough,” CARE said in a statement with other NGOs which called for “unconditional access for humanitarian assistance for commercial imports to all parts of the country.” Read the story here. Voice of America also quoted the statement.
