ATLANTA (Nov. 22, 2017) — In honor of Giving Tuesday, the global poverty-fighting organization CARE today announced a reprise of its successful #DreamWithHer campaign, a holiday gift experience that allows the public to interact with girls from Malawi who benefit from CARE’s work. #DreamWithHer launched last year, and 3 million people on Facebook virtually met and followed the lives and stories of Evelisi, Maliyana and Alinafe. This year’s #DreamWithHer builds upon those inspiring interactions, while revisiting the hopes and dreams of three girls in southern Africa.

Now in its sixth year, Giving Tuesday – which falls on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving – kicks off the charitable giving season. Through #DreamWithHer, which runs Dec. 5-25, people can not only send the girls messages of hope and ask questions about their lives in Malawi, but also buy a gift of lasting change for a friend or loved one at gifts.care.org. Purchases support CARE programs that help these girls and others like them around the world. Shoppers can buy a goat for $75, for example, one month of emergency food for $53 or a water pump for $405. Dozens of other products and services are available for purchase, from organic fertilizer to hygiene kits and midwifery services.

“I had the great delight last year of visiting Malawi and meeting Evelisi, Maliyana and Alinafe,” said Michelle Nunn, CARE’s president and CEO. “Their energy, hope and optimism inspired me then as they inspire me now, and I hope they will move you to #DreamWithHer this holiday season.”

Other seasonal activities and opportunities to support CARE include:

Light the World: CARE is partnering with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to turn vending machines into a force for good. Running Nov. 24 – Dec. 31, the “Light the World” campaign will position vending machines in the church’s home state of Utah, but instead of snacks and sodas, the machines will dispense items representing the work of select charities. Consumers, for example, can purchase first aid kits, emergency blankets, water filters or solar lights that relate to CARE’s programs around the world. The proceeds from those sales go directly to support CARE’s work. Visit them in person at 15 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84150.

CARE Match: Every donation made at care.org/givingtuesday by midnight on #GivingTuesday Nov. 28 will be matched up to $250,000 so that donor dollars go twice as far to help save lives, defeat poverty and achieve social justice.
