CARE has been working in Venezuela since 2018 to provide life-saving support to at-risk and hardest-hit communities, including health, food security, clean water, hygiene, and sanitation. It works through frontline partner organizations to support families at risk, with a focus on female-headed households, older people, and families with children under age five.

Relief efforts in Venezuela

CARE has responded to the Venezuelan refugee crisis with a regional approach that addresses the underlying causes and complexities of forced and mixed migration. This work has supported the needs of women and girls in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.

Since 2019, CARE Colombia has led a cross-border humanitarian response for migrants and refugees, providing lifesaving protection and health services while also supporting livelihoods and social cohesion for people who choose to remain in the country. CARE’s partners have reached approximately 40,000 people, 70% of whom are women, and around 190 local organizations have received technical and financial support.

The June 2026 earthquakes have further compounded an already severe situation in Venezuela, where families continue to face displacement, poverty, and limited access to essential services. CARE is responding through local partners with urgent relief, including psychosocial support, dignity kits, and hot meals for displaced families.
