Dr. Muhammad Musa

Dr. Musa has been working in the humanitarian and development sector for over 38 years, including 32 years with CARE. He joined CARE as Field Program Officer in Bangladesh in 1983 and progressively held various senior leadership positions, including Assistant Country Director, Country Director, Regional Director for Asia, and CEO for CARE India, leading the transition and transformation of the Country Office to a locally governed entity and a  member of CARE International Confederation. He left CARE in June 2015 to join BRAC as its Executive Director based in Bangladesh and then served as an Executive Director of BRAC International. 

Dr. Musa has extensive knowledge of Asia context and INGO sector. He brings with him a strong combination of skills and experience in strategic leadership, programming, resource mobilization, social enterprise, operational management, organizational change management, as well as global networking and advocacy for both humanitarian and development programs. He also has significant experience in governance roles in both not-for-profit and in for-profit organizations, including the role of Chairperson of IPDC Finance Limited, a non-banking financial institution for four years, and BRAC Net, a commercial IT company for two years. He is passionate about re-joining CARE and working with the CARE team in Asia, and with CARE global network to collectively continue the transformational process to become a truly locally led and globally connected organization.

Dr. Musa holds a Medical degree from Chittagong Medical College in Bangladesh, a Post-graduate Diploma in Nutrition from Wageningen, The Netherlands, and a Masters in Public Health from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA.
