Humanitarian Land Mine Programs Around the World

October 1998. The following list highlights some of the recent and ongoing work carried out by organizations in the field of humanitarian mine awareness and demining. The list was compiled using UN reports, the U.S. Department of Defense Minefacts CD-ROM, and numerous articles from the Internet and major news sources. CARE currently supports a land mine awareness, training and clearance program in Angola and in the past implemented a mine clearance project in Cambodia and a mine awareness program in Mozambique. CARE plans to broaden its land mine programming to ensure that staff and partners in the most heavily affected countries are trained in safety, and to address the land mine impediments to our relief and development work.
