CARE International is a global confederation of 14 member organizations – Austria, Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany-Luxemburg, India, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Thailand, United Kingdom and United States – working together to end poverty.

CARE has been working in India for 70 years, focusing on ending poverty and social injustice. We do this through well-planned and comprehensive programs in health, education, livelihoods and disaster preparedness and response. Our overall goal is the empowerment of women and girls from poor and marginalized communities leading to improvement in their lives and livelihoods. By collaborating with community groups, government departments, and professional bodies, CARE India ensures that the most vulnerable can affect and sustain equitable change.

CARE works with the poorest of the poor in more than 100 districts, in a total of 11 states across India. In 2008, CARE became nationally registered in India, which allows CARE an even greater opportunity to work with national partners and ensure that the poor benefit from India’s new wealth.
